July 28, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am PDT

Free

Join us for this exciting session where participants will explore repositories of open-source assistive technologies that can be made affordably to support people with disabilities, learn the basics of 3D design using online software and learn ways to connect with people and programs in their community. This session is presented by Stewart Russell, our Regional Coordinator in Central Canada for Makers Making Change. Every month, a member of our Makers Making Change team will present exciting topics related to our program, so keep checking to see what is coming next!

Makers Making Change is a project that connects people who could benefit from assistive devices with volunteer makers. Makers Making Change (MMC) is an innovative community-based initiative that connects makers to people with disabilities to create affordable open source assistive technologies. Makers Making Change utilizes emerging technology such as Arduino microcontrollers, 3D printing and laser cutting. The project integrates the culture and communities that surround the open source movement, the maker movement and the crowdsourcing movement.
