Makers Making Change Presents: Introduction to Designing Models for 3D Printing
December 1, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm PST
Join Makers Making Change for an introduction into creating models for 3D printing. This session will review the design constraints and considerations for creating devices intended to be printed on a fused filament fabrication printer and used as open-source assistive technology. We’ll also discuss some best practices for creating models that print reliably and function as intended. This session will be presented by Jake McIvor, a mechanical engineer on the Makers Making Change team.
Makers Making Change is a project that connects people who could benefit from assistive devices with volunteer makers. Makers Making Change (MMC) is an innovative community-based initiative that connects makers to people with disabilities to create affordable open source assistive technologies. Makers Making Change utilizes emerging technology such as Arduino microcontrollers, 3D printing and laser cutting. The project integrates the culture and communities that surround the open source movement, the maker movement and the crowdsourcing movement.
