Interested in designing a folding 3D print stand prototype (see attached pictures) to be used with an AAC device (i.e. GoTalk)
For portability of stand (e.g. in a backpack), it is important to be able to make it more compact by having a removable base. These pieces and/or storage bag could be attached to the back of the GoTalk with velcro.
note: this is a starting point, in the future we will review if this stand will be sturdy enough to support an iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro, as well as explore more design features to increase its compactability while maintaining its structural integrity
Challenges with metal stand:
- malleable therefore the base is not always level resulting in wobbling – use of PLA will eliminate this concern
- due to folding nature, it is not possible to tighten the knobs enough to maintain a level position with the device
- not sturdy enough to support pressing on a device with too much force: idea to add an additional piece to secure it in place and provide stability at different angles (e.g. a solid base with slots to allow the stand to be adjustable and stable, slots positioned 4.0cm, 5.5cm, 7.0cm, 8.5cm, 10.0cm, 11.5cm
