There has been a recent request for a large angled switch similar to the Plate Assistive Technology Switches. This switch can be tried for users who experience difficulty with elbow extension.

The goal of this switch would be:

    • Have a 5×5″ or larger activation surface.
    • Require relatively low force.
    • To interface through a 3.5mm jack.
    • Able to be stably and securely fixed in position during use.
    • To be set at an angle of approximately 20 degrees, possibly adjustable.

There is no fixed requirement for the general shape of the switch.

Please feel free to reply with any further questions on this switch to assist with any design.

I run engineering design projects at the University of Ottawa where we focus on accessibility projects. The projects would run over a semester (Sep-Nov, Jan-Mar, May-Jul) and I think we can help with this! If you are interested I’d love to meet and explain our program, please message back here or send me an email at [email protected].
