## Page Turner
Project Idea:
Hi!
I work closely with a college student who is in a wheelchair and has limited mobility of her hands. It’s difficult for her to turn pages, and I’m wondering if you could make something to help her. Thanks for all that you do!
December 20, 2019 at 2:38 pm #9586I’ve separated the original submission into two separate threads, one for each design challenge. The other request is here: https://forum.makersmakingchange.com/t/alternative-mouse-scroll/348
December 20, 2019 at 2:38 pm #9587@medney, do you think something like [this]([https://www.ncmedical.com/item_943.html) would work?

This commercial version is $17, though it looks like only one size is available.Alternatively, a 3D printed version could be made for less, and that would provide a way to customize to the size of the student’s hands. The https://forum.makersmakingchange.com/t/personalized-cuff-utensil-holder/69 may be a good starting point.
December 20, 2019 at 2:38 pm #9588Hi!
I am sending this to my student to see if this would work. She’s responds fairly quickly, so I hope to get you a response by Tuesday! Is that OK?
December 20, 2019 at 2:38 pm #9589Hi!
I would love to place an order for the page turner you sent me! My student is excited to try it out! Yay!

December 20, 2019 at 2:38 pm #9590Hey @medney – I would order directly from the supplier. If that doesn’t work out, then we can help with an alternate design. Here’s a few options that I found:
https://www.healthproductsforyou.com/p-page-turner.html
https://www.wrightstuff.biz/quad-hand-clip-page-turner.html
https://www.caregiverproducts.com/no-grip-page-turning-aid.html
https://www.performancehealth.ca/page-turner-aluminumAnd a similar model:
https://www.maddak.com/page-turnerkeyboard-aid-handwrist-cuff-p-27886.htmlNote that the first one has a latex rubber cap, which may be an allergy concern. It looks like it is just a finger protector / rubber finger tip, and can likely be replaced by a silicone version.
(e.g. https://www.amazon.ca/Silicone-Protector-JDWG-Cracking-Arthritis/dp/B07PT9G6DK)December 20, 2019 at 2:38 pm #9591I’m not picky! How do I order and pay?
December 20, 2019 at 2:38 pm #9592Hey @medney
If you want to try the commercial option, just choose one of those suppliers above and order directly from them via their website or phone number. That will be the fastest and most straightforward method for testing that product.
If the commercial product doesn’t work out, or the cost is too high, the next step is to find a volunteer maker to design an open-source / DIY version. In that case, you as the requester would be responsible for covering the cost of material and shipping of the DIY version.
December 20, 2019 at 2:38 pm #9593Ok great! I placed an order! Thanks so much for the help!
December 20, 2019 at 2:38 pm #9594You can work with a developer to develop an face or eye signal recognize to turn the pages.
