FYI: Stanford Researchers Build $400 Self-Navigating Smart Cane

The cane, incorporating sensing and way-finding approaches from robotics and self-driving vehicles, could reshape life for people who are blind or sight impaired.

A potential project for MMC to build and/or help develop as a device to be posted in MMC’s Assistive Devices library. Initial feedback from members of the blind/low vision community who have tried the prototype has been positive. Would love to hear folks’ thoughts and ideas on this topic.

    Best,

    John
