Camera Mount Adapter for 50mm PikoButton
Setup & instructions
Device Specifications
Device Details
Overview
This is an adapter for connecting a medium (50 mm) PikoButton (https://www.pikobutton.com/) to camera-type mounts. This adapter is based on the style of similar mounting adapters by ATMakers.org. Specific 4 mm to 1/2″-20 UNC thread adapters are available, but they can be difficult to source or expensive to ship. This adapter is an inexpensive alternative.
Usage
The mounting adapter is attached to the back of the switch using two machine screws. The mounting adapter and the switch can then be attached to a tripod or a mounting arm with a camera connection (i.e., 1/4″-20 UNC) to provide convenient switch placement.
Build Instructions
Bill of Materials
To assemble the mount with the switch, you will need:
1 – 3D Printed Mounting Adapter (~ 5.2 g of filament, $0.26)
2 – M4 machine screws, 12 mm long ( $0.50-$1.00)
1 – 1/4″-20 UNC tee nut, 5/16″ long ($0.30 e.g. https://www.mcmaster.com/90975A025, also available at hardware store)
You will also need the following temporarily to install the tee nut:
1 – 1/4″ Washer
1 – 1/4-20 UNC machine screw or bolt, 3/4″ – 1-1/2″ length
Design
The 50 mm Pikobutton has three threaded M4 mounting holes on the back. One hole is in the center and the other two are spaced apart by 31.5 mm. The two spaced holes are about 6 mm deep.
The adapter was created using Autodesk Fusion 360.
3D Printing
The mounting adapter is designed to be printed with the narrow end up, with support.
Assembling the Mounting Adapter
Clean out any support material from the center section.
To install the tee nut, line up the barbs of the tee nut with the slots on the mount adapter. Put the washer on the 1/4″-20 UNC bolt, and thread it through the adapter and into the tee nut. Tighten the bolt until the tee is flush with the bottom of the adapter. You can then unscrew and remove the bolt and washer.

Attaching Mount To Switch
Attach the mount to the PikoButton using the two M4 x 12 mm machine screws.
